Tips for Stress Free Travel

Bob is happiest when he is planning a trip. He is an expert at creating routes, timetables, selecting hotels, and choosisng interesting activities wherever we go in the United States. He incorporates my druthers and away we go. In February Bob was anticipating stent surgery and to keep his mind on the positive side he planned what turned out to be a 45-day train trip looping from Salt Lake City east to Chicago north to St. Paul-Minneapolis, west to Glacier Park, south to Portland, Sacramento ending where we started. Two days after his surgery Bob booked the trip. July 25th is our all aboard date and we will disembark on September 9. We will be riding the Amtrak tracks as if we were on the Orient Express enjoying the views and all the starts and stops along the way.

Again, travel has motivated Bob and I to get our mojo moving so we will have a 'fun' time. Our travel motto is "an inconvenience is an adventure, rightly viewed." We cannot count the times those words have been chanted keeping our positive attitudes in check when we've been grounded, missed a connection, broken down, lost, or just confused.

While researching what to do, what to pack, how to act on this long train trip, I came across
10 tips for stress free travel (taken from stressfreetravel)

1. Let go of all expectations
2. Be open to surprises
3. Take walks wherever you are
4. Pack exceptionally light
5. Find blessings in all disguises
6. Arrive early at airport, train, bus
7. Remember what really matters
8. Mindfully create positive memories
9. Keep well rested
10.Let go of all perfection

I think we have all baggage we need for the trip. Our only concern will be on time to catch the 3:10 a.m. train out of Salt Lake City on July 25th. Don't worry, we'll plan to arrive early.
