Chicago Board of Trade

We really felt part of big time business this morning when we visited the Chicago Board of Trade. That's where the options and futures are traded for wheat, soybeans, porkbellies, cattle, and many financial interests are traded. We were not allowed to take pictures inside, but the images and sounds were fascinating. Our group arrived before the opening bell for an orientation and then when the bell rang all the action began. The traders yelled and jumped as they sold and bought. But, instead of watching chaos, we had learned some of the hand signals and understood the importance of eye contact as these wheeler dealers did their business. I can understand why people would want to be involved in this special business.
