Chicago River Tour

In 1871 the Great Chicago Fire gave this city an opportunity for a new beginning. Out of the ashes the planners, architects, engineers developed a city that can only be described as a jewel. Chicago is proud to be the home of the first skyscraper. Wood is not allowed. A river runs through the city and many people, live and work alongside the river walk. Thirty miles of Michigan Lake shoreline border the city like a necklace. No buildings are allowed alone the shore only parks and beaches.
As I've toured Chicago by walking, and riding a boat and bus, I've marveled at how clean the place is - no litter, flowers and shrubbery everywhere and beautifully displayed. Even through the alleys no garbage piled up -- in fact, the cement looks scrubbed. A very proud city!
